Medical Spa: What It Is And The Treatments Offered

Posted on

Today, some people may prefer going to a medical spa for some treatments instead of a medical clinic. Some services are the same, but with a more laid-back environment and setting.

What Is a Medical Spa?

A medical spa is a mix between a day spa and a medical clinic. They are overseen by trained and licensed physicians, but they have the setting and feel of a day spa. This can help relax those who are there for certain treatments or procedures. There are treatments provided that do not need to be performed by the overseeing physicians, but they are still present to ensure your safety and comfort.

Medical Spa Services

There are several different services and treatments offered at a medical spa. They are typically cosmetic services and treatments.

Some of the offered services and treatments can include:

  • Wrinkle relaxers
  • Hormone replacement
  • Weight loss management
  • Laser hair removal
  • Chemical peels
  • Acne treatment
  • Sun damage treatment
  • Facials
  • Liposuction
  • Vaginal rejuvenation

While medical spas do offer medical treatments, they do generally also offer typical spa services, like facials. Each medical spa may offer different services, so it's important to reach out to the spa to make sure they offer what you need.

Benefits of a Medical Spa

The biggest advantage of going to a medical spa would be the environment. Everyone knows going to medical clinics has a more tense or stressful environment, but a medical spa can help you feel more relaxed while you receive the treatment you need.

Other benefits can include:

  • Customized programs and treatment plans
  • Noninvasive medical treatments offered
  • Ability to treat chronic illnesses (e.g. insomnia)
  • Advanced technology for your treatment needs
  • Treatments offered can help your confidence grow

Because of these benefits and the relaxing atmosphere, medical spas have been growing in population. A lot of people put off treatments they want or need simply because going to a medical clinic can be exhausting. Now there's a way around that!

Cost of a Medical Spa

Depending on the services offered and the spa you are going to, medical spa services can cost between $15 to $4,500 per session. Prices can drastically vary from spa to spa so it's important to go in for a consultation to get a more accurate estimate for your treatment plan. It's also important to know that most insurance plans will not cover most services offered at a medical spa. Insurances will not cover any procedure that is cosmetic and not medically necessary. Therefore, the cost of these treatments will most likely be out of pocket.
